Everything Here Is Free Now: A Farewell and a Forwarding Address

James

From the Founder

Almost two years ago I started building TradeQuillo in the corner of my office, in the hours around my own trading. It grew into more than I planned: an assessment that reads how you actually behave under risk, a full course, two playbooks, a workbook, a library, and more than sixty essays on the space between knowing the rule and following it. Somewhere in the middle of all that building, it also produced two books.

Today I am announcing the ending, and I want to do it the way this whole project tried to do everything, which is honestly.

TradeQuillo the website is winding down. Between now and the day the domain expires, everything on it is free. After that, the site goes dark, the writing continues somewhere simpler, and the books carry the work forward. This post is the why, the what, and the forwarding address.

What the building actually paid

I will save you the suspense on the business story: the course never found its crowd, and the numbers were never much. That is not why I am closing it, though. I am closing it because of what the building did find.

To build a curriculum about trading psychology, you have to walk through every lesson twice. Once to write it, and once to notice it is about you. I spent a year writing about the gap between the trader who makes the plan and the trader who executes it, about loss aversion and identity and the quiet operator who no longer needs a verdict from the market. And the entire time, without quite noticing, I was running my own counterexample: a man who traded well in the morning and then spent the rest of the day marketing, posting, optimizing, and checking numbers that never moved, on a project that had quietly become a way to feel productive about the thing instead of living it.

The last chapter I wrote for Trade Calm is about the traders who last. The finding that surprised me most when I researched it is that they are not the ones who made trading their whole identity. They are the ones who made it small. A craft they do well, inside a life that does not depend on any single day's number. I closed that chapter with a scene: a trader shutting down his platform at 1:30 in the afternoon because the market was not offering anything, and sitting on the porch while his daughter shows him a drawing, fully present, no part of his mind still at the desk.

I wrote that scene in May. It took me until July to understand I had written myself instructions.

So that is the why. I trade in the mornings. That is the job, and it is a good one. The rest of the day belongs to a golf game with my son, a volleyball match with my daughter, my wife, good food, books I did not write. A website is a hungry thing, and I am done feeding it hours that belong to the porch.

The practical part

Everything on tradequillo.com is free, starting today, until the domain expires. The TQ Assessment and your full profile. The Complete Calm Trading Method, the course that sold for $249. Both playbooks. The workbook. The library. No card, no catch, no upsell waiting behind a door. If any of it is useful to you, take it. Consider it a thank-you note from a builder to the process that rebuilt him.

The writing has moved. Trader Intelligence, this blog, now lives at tradequillo.substack.com, with the entire archive already there. New essays will appear when I have something worth saying, not on a schedule, which I suspect will make them better. If you want them in your inbox, subscribe there. It is free.

The books stay. Trade Calm remains on sale everywhere books are sold, in ebook, paperback, and hardcover. If you found good value here, please consider buying Trade Calm. And a second book is finished. Substack subscribers will hear about it first.

When the domain lapses, this site goes dark. The books and the Substack are the permanent addresses.

A last word

If you have read this far, you were probably one of the people this was built for: the capable, undercapitalized, self-taught trader who knows the rule and breaks it anyway, and suspects the problem was never the strategy. You were right. It never was.

The work in the course and the books stands on its own now. It does not need a platform behind it, and as it turns out, neither do I.

Thank you for reading, for the replies, for the handful of you who took the assessment at two in the morning and emailed me about what it saw. The writing continues at the new address, smaller and freer, the way the last chapter said it should be.

Trade calm. I will be on the porch.
