The TQ Assessment as a Longitudinal Instrument
Use the full TQ Assessment as a repeatable measurement, not a one-off grade. Score honestly, read the result across the six dimensions, and turn it into a focused development plan.
What the Assessment Is For
The TQ Assessment is not a test you pass once and put on a shelf. It is a longitudinal instrument that measures the operator across the six dimensions of the TQ Profile: Emotional Intelligence, Cognitive Control, Stress Resilience, Behavioral Discipline, Risk Management Mindset, and Performance Optimization.
The value is not the score in isolation. The value is the comparison across time. A first read tells you where the weakest link sits today. A second read three months later tells you whether the work you did actually moved that dimension or whether the gain was somewhere else.
Two things make this work:
- You answer the way you actually behave on a hard Tuesday, not the way you would describe yourself on a good day. A flattering score is useless.
- You read the dimensions together, not as a leaderboard. A trader with high Cognitive Control but low Stress Resilience has a very different problem than the inverse, and the development plan should reflect that.
The Assessment is most useful when you treat it the way a trader treats an equity curve: a record, not a verdict.
How to Take It and What to Do With the Result
Before you take it
- Block 60 to 90 minutes when you will not be interrupted.
- Take it after a normal trading week, not right after a banner day or a bad drawdown. Both bias the answers.
- Decide in advance that you will answer honestly even when the honest answer is uncomfortable.
While you take it
- Answer based on actual behavior over the last 30 to 60 days, not on intention.
- If you find yourself debating the answer, the first instinct is usually more accurate than the second.
After you take it
- Read the TQ Profile across all six dimensions before looking at the overall score.
- Identify the lowest dimension. That is the focus area for the next ninety days, regardless of how the others look.
- Identify the second-lowest dimension. That is the secondary focus, addressed only after the primary one moves.
- Write down the score and the date. The next read needs something to compare against.
Turning the result into a plan
- Pick one habit tied to the focus dimension and run it for ninety days. One. Not five.
- Schedule the next retake. Same instrument, same conditions, ninety days out.
- Resist the urge to rework everything based on a single read. One instrument, one focus, one cycle.
Map Practices to Their Development Tier
Match each practice to the development tier it represents. The point is not the label, it is to see how the same underlying instrument supports different stages of work.
